Lupita’s reign of victory is far from over. She has been named People Magazine’s most beautiful person 2014! The Oscar winner was awarded the prestigious honor on Wednesday morning, joining the likes of Gabrielle Union and Kerry Washington.



According to People Magazine, a weekly celebrity magazine, Lupita first equated beauty with what she saw on television. "Light skin and long, flowing, straight hair," she says. "Subconsciously you start to appreciate those things more than what you possess." But Lupita’s mother always believed the star was beautiful and eventually she was able to believe it. She has over the past year become a Hollywood darling who has broken the cliché on what was widely considered beautiful.


Her short hair, chocolate complexion and natural look has inspired millions the world over and changed perception of the beauty mold. Lupita is also the cover girl in this hot issue of the People Magazine. The magazine, which has the largest audience of any American magazine, ran its first issue on March 4, 1974 and has created a name for its special year issues which include "World's Most Beautiful People", "Best & Worst Dressed", and "Sexiest Man Alive". The magazine started the list in 1990 and so far 26 people, both men and women, have featured on the list. The "World's Most Beautiful Person" usually graces the cover and this was the case for Lupita, making her the third black woman (after actress Halle Berry and singer Beyonce Knowles) to hold the title and grace the cover. The top ten most beautiful women are:
